Summertime games dolls play...

There is a tag game on Flicker called Summertime and it is showing how your dolls celebrate Summertime. I thought it would be fun to drag out some dolls who don't get that much photo time. Two of them are dolls I intend to use for my Big Bang gang, as I am currently collecting custom heads for the guys, I already have a Sheldon head.

Amy is a Barbie basics on one of those flat footed bodies that were popular a few years ago, I can't remember the names of the dolls now. I transplanted my Happy Family grandma onto one of these. The feet are a trifle big but they work for Amy who is flatfooted and short. I decided to use Groovy Galore for Penny since she has that early sultry look Penny used to have. I hate the new Penny with short hair.

Amy has her 'summertime' fun planned with her laptop to look up things, a stack of mystery novels to read, and a cold bottle of water. Penny was hoping to get her to play a round of croquet but that wasn't going to happen!

Amy's ensemble came from a variety of sources. The laptop came from ebay, I made the books. Penny's outfit is sparkle girls from walmart. The croquet mallets are Buyer's Choice off of ebay. Buyer's choice are those Christmas dolls you can get that are for the Christmas and seasonal scenes and are available at places like Hallmark and gift shops and have wonderful 1:6 props like doors, fireplaces, stairs, market stalls, wheelbarrows, etc. Down in Williamsburg they sell these all over the. The mallets came with little matching balls but I didn't want to lose them for the photos. They are a little large for Barbie and Poppy as I originally purchased them for my french fashion doll, Annabelle.

Enjoy!

Barbie Collector's 50th Anniversary Star Trek dolls

Barbie Collector is now doing its 50th anniversary celebration of Spock, Kirk and Uhura as well. Their face molds are uncanny, especially Lt. Uhura, she is just amazing.

My reward is going to expire soon, so I went ahead and ordered Spock yesterday. I will have another reward starting July 1st, so hopefully I can get Kirk and Uhura together in one go. I would love to get all three together, but right now dolly funds are tight and I really shouldn't be ordering anything but I don't want to take the chance of losing them altogether.

These dolls are on pre-order, so when you get your notice they are 'backordered' until July 7th. Sigh get with it Mattel. They are slowly learning.

At the San Diego Comic Con, they will unveil the famous Green Girl from the Star Trek Pilot Episode 'The Cage'

Here are the photos-

She is available for pre-order from MattyCollector  however, the catch is you must pick up the order IN PERSON at ComicCon. SOB.

She is so gosh darn AWESOME. This one will be going for big bucks on ebay. Halfway tempted to beg Integrity to take a Colorinfusion doll and do this to her.

Live Long and Prosper!

Dolly play date & Lunch with my friends...

I had a dolly playdate yesterday with my friends Marina and Karon and we all went out to lunch at Sedona Taphouse in Midlothian.  I know the lady whose son in law and daughter own this chain of restuarants and each Monday is a Steak-out-for-Charity meal day. Each month, they choose a charity and $2 of the Steak dinner meal is donated to that charity for the month. The steak dinner is $6 dollars, all day on Monday. This is what we had and it was awesome. Mike, Karon's son went with us. Mike and I also had a salad with it. Sedona is known for having exotic and imported beer on the tap, as well as fine wines. But their food is gourmet as well. I love it there. I did not have beer, just water and unsweeted tea, but I took a pic in the moment...

We went back to Karon's place to chat and look at Dolls.

Karon pulled out her Valia, but did not debox. We just oohed and aahed.

Yes I did bring Beau my Elf on the Shelf along. He decided to get into some mischief later.  He was a good little elf at first.....

He  found Karon's rocking horse and rocked on that.  But as usual, I got the whacked elf on the shelf and when he saw the Poppies congregating on the table, well.....he decided to get a little laid back shall we say....

Then Marina decided to stage a couple of my dolls on her couch.....

Here is Marina dressing some of the dolls, she brought some of the most beautiful outfits ...

Marina's Barbie look basic dressed in a ballgown off of ebay...gorgeous!

Some more of Karon's dolls- Victoire, and Poppys . When we get together we just bring whatever suits our fancy at the moment and put them together on the table no rhyme or reason or size, and not necessarily fashion royalty or poppy or barbie. I had brought a Blythe too.

All of our birthdays fall in May so this was our very late birthday celebration, all of us have had the stress in different degrees from hell. Marina and I with medical problems, and Karon with family so it was nice to get together for a wonderful leisurely lunch and doll time. The time flew!
Enjoy the photos!

It's National World Doll Day!

Did you know that June 11, 2016 is the 30th anniversary of World Doll Day?

Here is the link to when it started. Click World Doll Day

I decided to use a photo from the archives, of the Poppies playing with the Barbie dreamhouse with the Kellys, as National World Doll Day has a
logo with a doll, holding a doll. Mildred Seely began World Doll day by
giving a doll, sharing dolls, with a letter on June 14, 1986. It was meant to spread a universal message of happiness and love.

So share your story of dolls, or pics of dolls, and get your happy on!

Project progress...

I made some progress on the project today. Though it took alot out of me. I really need to get back to my regime of exercise, this being sick for two months has taken alot of my strength out of me. It's for the birds! Sheesh. It's a day by day thing.

I spray painted the interior shelves and interior of the front today and it turned out better than I expected.

Yes it looks pretty rough right now. I used a rustoleum spray paint with a gloss finish to it. This color will really pop with the pink and the candies that will go on the shelves along with the cakes and other goodies. The black and cream floor will also be eye popping on it too. Looks aweful before it looks better ! At least with my projects it always does.

More later when I get further along....

New Project...

So I have a new project in the works. It has been in the works for over two months before I took ill with the kidney stone. I actually drew the plans and cut it out and had assembled it before I took so ill I could not continue. It has been two months since I felt like moving much less working on minis.

The original concept was Daigon Alley with Honeydukes, and the different shops that encompassed Harry Potter's first  visit- Ollivander's wand shop, and so on. My first attempt will be a Honeydukes, since I LOVE making candys and cakes, and I am drawing inspiration from the one in the MGM studios down in the florida/Disney land studios I have seen pictures of on google images. There are actually no real pics of Honeydukes in the movies. I also plan to do the book store Flourish and Botts.

The front is designed to come off so you can see the inside. It is made of 1/2 inch foamcore. The back is designed with shelves for the goodies.

Harry and Ron standing in front of the shelves, being tested out for scale with a cake and some candies I have made.

Here is the front piece cut out and laying on the table before I did some work to it.

Here it is with Ron inside and the front back on after the shelves have been glued in and are drying.

I plan to spray paint the interior a seafoam teal green, then do a black and white tile floor, with gold accents. Really give it a lot of color with bright colors , the exterior will be stone. I have aquite a ways to go before I get to the exterior because so much needs to be done before I even begin to spray paint and add color and flooring. Enjoy!
